What this resource is for
Categories organise brands and offers into groups such as fashion or groceries.
When to use it
- Build navigation and filters.
- Create landing pages by category.
- Support search and browsing.
Important implementation notes
- Use category identifiers for filtering, not category names, because names can change.
- Each category lists the brands that belong to it. Fetch brand detail separately from the brands resource.
- Refresh periodically rather than hard-coding the list.

Common mistakes
- Matching on the category name.
- Assuming a brand belongs to only one category.
