Platform overview
Spendstream gives publishers one rewards infrastructure layer for gift cards, affiliate cashback and transaction reporting. This page explains what the platform provides and what you remain responsible for.
What Spendstream provides
Spendstream is a UK-based business-to-business-to-consumer rewards platform. Publishers use it to offer rewards to their own customers without building supplier or network connections themselves.
Capability | What it means for you |
Gift cards | More than 150 gift card brands, fulfilled digitally through our gift card supplier. |
Affiliate offers | More than 4,000 online brands, connected through nine affiliate networks. |
Cashback and rewards | Transactions and commission are recorded against your users, and a reward is calculated according to your agreed commission split. |
Reporting | Transaction records, status updates and webhooks so that you can reconcile activity. |
Hosted storefront | An optional white-label storefront that Spendstream builds, hosts and runs for you. |
Spendstream manages brand inventory, supplier relationships, fulfilment and affiliate connectivity. You manage your customer relationship and, on the Full API path, your own interface.
What you can build
- Manage the people who take part in your rewards programme.
- List brands, categories and promotions.
- Sell digital gift cards, either through a Spendstream hosted payment page or from a prepaid float, depending on how your account is configured.
- Show affiliate offers and let users earn cashback when they shop with a partner retailer.
- Track transactions and receive webhooks when a transaction or user changes.
Reward types
The reward that a user earns is a matter of configuration. Typical reward types include site credit, ride credit, free competition entries and cashback. Your account manager agrees the reward type with you during onboarding.
Publisher configuration
Each publisher account is configured as a Gift Card publisher or an Affiliate publisher. This changes which endpoints apply to you and which fields appear in responses. A hybrid configuration that offers both is on the roadmap. See Product configuration for details.
⚠️ Warning: Do not assume that every publisher has access to every product or every response field. Your configuration decides what you see.
Two ways to integrate
You can launch with a hosted, branded storefront (white-label) or build your own interface against the API (Full API). See Choose your integration model to decide which suits you.
